The Stone-Cutter: Wow,
what a great story! I was expecting that the man would either be ruined by his
greed and lack of appreciation. Instead, the man actually makes a beautiful
journey through his desires to be “better” than before and ends up back where he
started but with a much better attitude. It was really an interesting and
creative cycle that landed him back at the beginning.
The Maiden with theWooden Helmet: What a sweet story with a happy ending! I loved that the
mother helped her beautiful daughter to not focus on appearance and instead
make sure that she was always being productive. She clearly raised an
independent and resilient girl, as the girl was able to go off on her own and
find work after her mother passed away. Still, the youth only fell in love with
her after seeing her beauty, so this story is not without its faults. I would
have preferred that he fall in love with her before seeing her face.
The Envious Neighbor: I
loved this story with the cute little dog until the evil neighbor killed it!
That was so sad! Still, the dog helped its loving owners even after death and
eventually the evil man was (almost) sufficiently punished for his evil crime!
The Cat’s Elopement: Yay,
I love this story! I read it a few weeks ago for a Storybook assignment and
decided to include it in my Storybook. For this week’s Storytelling, I think I
will write a first draft of the story I will eventually use in my Storybook!
