Week 2: Homer’s Illiad
I was in a
course last semester about Latin love elegy, and the Illiad was commonly
referenced. The professor suggested that we read it at some time in the future
just to add to our general knowledge. I enjoy Greek mythology and I know this
is a very important piece of literature. It is a good opportunity to read this
condensed version.
Week 3: Cupid & Psyche
Any time I
have the choice to read a love story, I will probably take it. I also usually
enjoy Greek mythology, so I’m hoping this will be a good choice for me. I have
limited background knowledge of Greek myths from high school. I’m excited to
add to this knowledge with this story.
Week 4: Turkish Fairy Tales
I was lucky
enough to visit my uncle in Turkey when I was in high school. He was stationed
there for a few years, and my grandmother took me on an amazing trip to visit
him. It was such a wonderful experience. I’d love to revisit/learn more about
Turkish culture by reading these fairy tales.

Week 5: Persian Fairy Tales
I think I
will continue this unit by focusing on fairy tales. I imagine it will be very
interesting to read fairy tales from this part of the world. It’s always
expanding to learn about different cultures, and learning their fairy tales is
an interesting place to start.

Week 9: Eskimo Stories
Week 10: Tejas Stories
